HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.
How
will you be gaining control of your life this year? What will
be your resolution? Will it be to get fit? Will it be to lose
those few extra pounds? Will it be to stop smoking?
In
my last two articles, I spoke about smoking cessation- in this
article I would like to explain how hypnotherapy can help with
weight control.
Now
that the festivities are over and a lot of you have returned from
trips to the UK and having done the visit round of
friends and relatives-drinking too much, eating too much. I guess
some of you are feeling bloated and sluggish after all the turkey,
Christmas pudding, mince pies, trifle loaded with calories-
not to mention the wine and spirits consumed during this period-also
loaded with calories.
It
is time now to off load those extra few pounds and get fit. I
am going to give you some suggestions on how it can be done. First
I am going to give you a few helpful tips, and then I will explain
how hypnotherapy can make it easier for you.
Weight
loss depends on two criteria:
1.
Eating healthily-you are not on a diet or anything. Just divide
your smaller plate in to quarters and have one quarter protein,
one quarter carbohydrate and two quarters steamed fresh vegetables
or salad(Cyprus is full of them) drink two litres of water a day.
2.
Excercise to burn off the calories. It need not be vigorous exercise.
A brisk walk along the beach, feeling the sun on your face, the
breeze gently through your hair-pause for a while to watch the
sun set. See everything as if you have just arrived on earth,
new bright and sparkling clean. Look around you and see the colours
and the beauty.Or a gentle swim. You may increase your exercise
each day to your own level.
Not
only will you be slimmer, you'll be fitter too. Be determined
that TODAY you can make your life as good as you possibly can
in every way.
Start
the year this way and resolve to treat your body with the respect
it deserves and soon you will feel how good it is to have a strong
and healthy body. Your mind will also be wonderfully healthy and
calm.
Affirmations
may also play a large part in taking control of your life. For
example : when you wake up in the morning say out loud with gusto
for a few minutes EVERY DAY IN EVERY WAY I AM GETTING FITTER
AND FITTER or EACH AND EVERY DAY IN EVERY WAY I AM
FEELING BETTER AND BETTER. Something along these lines making
sure that the statement you use is POSITIVE.
Most
urges or hunger pangs do not occur because of physical withdrawal
and a need to eat; they are triggered by unrelated things like
the time of day, certain people we are around, a type of feeling,
or the kids coming home from school. Hunger pangs are always brief
and time limited. Many people don't realize and fear that the
hunger pangs won't stop unless they eat. A conditional response
seldom lasts long when you don't indulge it. They get weaker and
weaker and easier to ignore. So the use of self hypnosis by talking
to yourself in your mind, reminding yourself that in a minute
or two it will go away. Or an appointment with a Hypnotherapist
will help too by giving you suggestions to strengthen your ego,
taking control and helping with self esteem.
Starting
today, you can have a new life, enjoying everything around you.
Enjoy being alive. Feeling good to be alive with a calm and peaceful
mind.
